It may just be me, but I think there has been a collective urge as of late to put a pillowcase over one’s head and scream “RAH RAH OH LA LA.” Lady Gaga has seemingly overnight grabbed the country’s attention by the testicles and isn’t letting go anytime soon.

It’s hard not to cry after a game like that. Imagine what the players feel like. I’ve had to walk off my emotions for the last twenty minutes (I walked past the Bobcats’ locker room and just being two feet from the door made me feel as if I was trespassing – covering the game in an NBA arena has been a blast). I won’t bring myself to cry, but I’d be surprised if there aren’t some waterworks in the Cougars locker room.

After several years of greybeard headliners, California's signature festival is going back to the future with younger acts including Gorillaz, Muse, Jay-Z, Thom Yorke, MGMT, Hot Chip, Spoon, Vampire Weekend and LCD Soundsystem at the very top of the bill for the three-day concert that begins April 16 at the Empire Polo Field in Indio.

Last Friday, the Memminger Auditorium was only half full, but people flowed in at a steady rate and there was an excited buzz as strangers socialized and settled into their seats.  The occasion was a special performance of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra with Charleston jazz musician Quentin Baxter and his band. By the time the concert began, the house was almost full.
