Instead of diving straight in to talk about how his team defeated Chattanooga 96-69 in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament, Cremins spoke about UTC’s Ty Patterson.

It’s hard not to cry after a game like that. Imagine what the players feel like. I’ve had to walk off my emotions for the last twenty minutes (I walked past the Bobcats’ locker room and just being two feet from the door made me feel as if I was trespassing – covering the game in an NBA arena has been a blast). I won’t bring myself to cry, but I’d be surprised if there aren’t some waterworks in the Cougars locker room.

After induring an hour of Charlotte traffic (Charlotte <3's rubbernecking, as a Charlottean staff member put it) and a minor car accident in our convoy (more on that later), the Cougar Media Network arrived at the SoCon Tournament last night.

Sometimes, you need something to shake you up. The Cougars got quite the shake-up when Jeremy Simmons injured his knee four games ago. Changing the dynamic can be as important as it is detrimental.

Sometimes, you need something to shake you up. The Cougars got quite the shake-up when Jeremy Simmons injured his knee four games ago. Changing the dynamic can be as important as it is detrimental.

With the shake-up came a learning opportunity for the Cougars. The College had to adjust to life without Jeremy. And, while their adjustments didn't turn out perfect (they lost two on the road), the College learned something: they have a well rounded team that can step up.

Tonight, desperately needing to grab some food among studying and catching President Obama's speech on Afghanistan, I dropped back by WOK World Oriental Kitchen for dinner.

They've gotten their act together. Since my first visit in mid-October, I hadn't returned until tonight. And, overall, the meal was quite good.

Tuesday night, President Obama delivered a major speech concerning his our nation's involvement in Afghanistan.  This was against the backdrop of Republican criticism that he was stalling and increasing discontent with the prospect of an escalation from the left.  The bullet-points?  30 000 troops are headed to Afghanistan to help stabilize the Afghan government and a timetable for the withdrawal of our troops from that country.

World Oriental Kitchen on King Street celebrates their grand opening tomorrow with a special ceremony featuring Mayor Riley. But, for the past two days, the team at WOK have been working out the kinks in their "revolutionary" food concept.

I just got back from having dinner at WOK and wanted to share some of my - and my friends - first impressions. Just for full disclosure, I am not a food critic but I am a "foodie." I also have a fairly critical eye. So, while this isn't a restaurant review, I haven't just glossed the surface either.
