The Charleston Farmers’ market returned to Marion Square April 3, and there was color everywhere. Between the fresh vegetables, new spring flowers and local arts and crafts there was a lot take in.
Vendors arrived early to set up for the 8 a.m. start. Serious shoppers were there to meet them and to get the freshest eggs, vegetables, meats, cheeses and get out before things got crowded at noon. But you didn’t have to go home to find something cooked. Every street food imaginable was present in some form. Hot dogs, gyros, sandwiches, pancakes, biscuits, salads, all were very tempting and moderately priced.
People lounged about Marion Square enjoying the weather, the food, the company and music from the The South Carolina Broadcasters, a local two-piece guitar and violin outfit. The Farmers’ market continues Saturdays until 2 p.m. and is well worth a look and a bite, but remember this market is cash only.
