CAMPUS CRIME BRIEFS

Vandalism
Public Safety says graffiti was found carved into the front edge of a wooden desk in black ink on the second floor of Addlestone Library. The graffiti reads “[racial slur] hate rape 20,000 white women every year.”

Harassment
A McAlister resident told Public Safety that other McAlister residents might be harassing her. The resident told public safety that someone has yelled obscenities directed toward her outside her room, kicked her door, written an obscene note on her door and left a note saying “kill [resident’s name]” on another floor of McAlister. The resident told Public Safety she does not know of any enemies or people who would harass her.

Egging
A Public Safety employee says she heard something hit the front window while sitting at the Public Safety desk just before 4 a.m. Jan. 26. She found eggshells and egg residue on the glass door, according to the police report.
Drug paraphernalia

Alcohol
Public Safety confiscated an almost-empty 1.75 liter bottle of Captain Morgan 100 proof spiced rum from a subject in a McConnell Residence Hall room just after 11 p.m. Jan. 29. The subject gave police a College of Charleston student ID, but said that he was not a C of C student, according to the police report. The room’s residents told police that he was not a guest in the room and the resident who had checked him into the residence hall was not on the scene. Public Safety confiscated the ID and escorted the subject out of the residence hall, telling him not to return to campus, according to the report.

Drunkenness
A Public Safety officer says he found two males carrying a third across the street in front of McConnell Residence Hall just before 1 a.m. Jan. 30. Public Safety says the third man smelled like alcohol, was unable to stand alone and slurred his speech. The man gave the officer a false Texas ID, according to the police report, and was taken to Roper Hospital.

Drug Equipment
Public Safety confiscated a grinder containing a leafy substance, rolling papers, a small blue and silver pipe, one wooden case, one purple bong and one soda bottle with dryer sheets from a Liberty Residence Hall room after smelling marijuana from outside, according to the police report.
Drugs
Public Safety and a resident assistant entered a Kelly Residence Hall room after a report of a marijuana smell Jan. 31, according to the police report. One resident handed over a glass bong containing a leafy green substance. The resident told Public Safety the bong was his, but the leafy green substance belonged to another occupant. The second occupant produced a medicine container with what he admitted to be marijuana, according to the report.
