C of C hosts mental health monologues

The Peer Counslers at C of C hosted student performers on Feb. 25 for the “Mental Health Monlogues: Erase the Stigma.” Students got a chance to watch their peers perform monologues and other acts about mental illnesses to create awareness.
Students got a chance to hear the secret, provocative stories of current students and their struggles to overcome mental illness. Monologues were written by students and performed by student actors with original live music.
The event was free, and free stress-relieving items were given away as a part of a raffle at the end of the program.
Peer Counseling is a free service for C of C students offered by C of C students. The program is supported by C of C’s Counseling and Substance Abuse Services and other C of C faculty and staff. Peer Counselors provide therapeutic listening, help with decision making and referrals for various local services and activities. All of this is offered in a confidential, non-judgmental environment, according to the Peer Counseling Web site.
