The College of Charleston volleyball team wrapped up a successful weekend on the road with a win at the formerly undefeated James Madison University. The Cougars clinched a nail-biting five-set match-winning a 27-25 in the first set, 25-22 in the second set and 17-15 in the fifth set.
Lauren Freed lead the team with an impressive 16 kills and 11 digs, accompanied by Devon Rachel’s 14 kills and 10 digs and Krissy Mummey’s 13 kills and three blocks, which helped seal the team’s victory.
The team has seen a great season so far and James Madison’s defeat put Charleston’s current record at 14-4 and is in second in the CAA standings.
In addition to this crucial win, McKayla Rhodes was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Defensive Player of the Week. Her 27-dig total pushed her passed her 1,200 dig total for her career.
The Cougars return to TD Arena this Friday to face the Towson Tigers at 7 PM.
