On Sept. 3rd, the contents of former President Barack Obama’s parting letter were released to the public. Although nine months have passed since President Trump’s inaugural celebration, Obama’s well wishes and gratitude still remain. The former President’s letter had a precise direction and overall plotted three major things.
- First, Obama congratulated President Trump on his victory and his outstanding win. He stated that “all of us, regardless of party, should hope for expanded prosperity and security during your tenure.”
- Secondly, Obama stated their good fortune by having the opportunity to lead a nation. He also stated the actions of a leader and the influence behind it are necessary to “sustain the international order.” The former President mentioned previous leaders and the preceding leaders, and how it is now apart of their job to leave the foundation of America as strong as they found it.
- Lastly, President Obama emphasized the need for President Trump to remember his family and friends and how they will be the beacon in the dark for the rough patches in his tenure. He goes on to wish the President well wishes from Michelle and his family, and and ends the letter by signing “Good Luck, and Godspeed.”
"we are just temporary occupants of this office"–maybe in the end the most heartening phrase in BHO's parting letter to the president-elect https://t.co/wr3YWakmys
