Baseball team to hold open tryouts Monday

Ready to see your own College of Charleston jersey hanging in the locker room at Patriots Point? Ready to take the field with the Cougars as they prepare for the 2013 baseball season? You’ll get your chance on Monday, Aug. 27, as the men’s baseball team will be holding open tryouts for the upcoming season.

Tryouts will be held at 4 p.m. at the Patriots Point sports complex in Mount Pleasant, and is open to all male CofC students. Anyone interested in trying out for the team must submit the required paperwork to the athletic office by 5 p.m. on Friday. The team will supply bats, balls and helmets, but students are required to bring their own glove and cleats. Contact Brandon Sizemore (904-502-6403) with any questions.

The College of Charleston has had several athletes achieve noteworthy success as walk-ons, including Christine Klinar, who went from a walk-on with the women’s track and field team to the school record-holder in the javelin.
