The College of Charleston women’s basketball team lost to the Davidson Wildcats on Saturday in the TD Arena, 46-23. The score may seem a little devastating but all of the accomplishments of a game are not always reflective in the score.
The Cougars did an amazing thing during the game, which was keeping the preseason Southern Conference Player of the Year Sophia Aleksandravicius from scoring but one point.
Overall the Cougars did amazing things on defense by holding the Wildcats to just 25.9 percent shooting average from the field. They also forced 18 turnovers on Davidson.
Defensively the Cougar proved to be a threat however when Davidson did score they could not seem to match a single point for almost the entire first half. With five minutes left in the first half the Cougars were finally able to score on Davidson with a free throw. By the end of the first half the Cougars were down, 24-4.
After the half the Cougars caught up to the Wildcat’s offense by sinking 19 points to the Wildcat’s 22 points.
Leading the Cougars was Latisha Harris with eight points and six rebounds and not a single turnover.
The Cougars have a quick turn around and play again Feb 6th in the TD Arena at 8pm.
